Team strengths map

Positive-Strength Team

Who is good at what, visible to everyone.

Strengths only come out when someone gets to use them. A strengths map shows who is good at what, and who you can go to for what. That way you share out tasks based on what people can do, rather than on who happens to have time.

When to use it

  • The team wants to work together better

Tip

Let everyone write their own line, using the evidence question: what has someone ever thanked you for, and what did you do then? Not "I am thorough", but "I find mistakes that others miss".

What you fill in

  • Team
  • One line per person
  • How do you use the map?
  • Everyone wrote their own line
  • When do you update it?

The tool runs in your browser. Nothing you type is saved or sent anywhere.

Strengths map: Customer Service team • Jack: finding errors in figures and text. Ask me for: the final check of quotes and reports. • Priya: bringing calm to a conversation with an angry customer. Ask me for: tricky phone calls and complaints. • Tom: spotting patterns in complaints. Ask me for: what lies behind a run of similar questions. • Aisha: explaining how something works, step by step. Ask me for: onboarding new colleagues. • Olivia: keeping an overview when everything comes at once. Ask me for: choosing what comes first. How we use it When we share out tasks, we look at this map first. Once a month at the team meeting, we mention what someone's strength made possible. We update it every six months, and when someone new joins the team.
