Change calendar

Predictability-Strength Change

The steps of a reorganisation, and when people will hear more.

During a reorganisation, the uncertainty is often heavier than the news itself. People who do not know when something is coming stay on alert, and that costs energy every day. A calendar with the steps, fixed update moments and what will definitely stay the same gives something to hold on to, even when a lot is still open.

When to use it

  • A change is coming (rota, workspace, team)

Tip

Send an update even when there is nothing new: "Nothing has been decided yet; the next step is still on 1 December." Otherwise the silence gets filled in, usually with the worst-case scenario.

What you fill in

  • What is changing, in one sentence?
  • To whom

  • The steps
  • Fixed times when there will be news

The steps: • Monday 30 November: the proposal goes to the employee forum and the union for consultation • Friday 18 December: the consultation closes and the forum gives its response • Monday 11 January: the final decision, at a meeting at 10:00 • The weeks of 18 and 25 January: one-to-one conversations about your place in the new department • Monday 1 March: the new department starts When you will hear news: • A short email update on the first Monday of every month at 9:00 • A drop-in question session on Thursdays at 16:00, in the canteen and online What is not yet decided: Who will lead the new department. You will know by 11 January at the latest. What it means for you: Everyone gets a one-to-one conversation in the week of 18 or 25 January, announced in advance with the questions included. Nobody hears their own news in a group first. Questions? Ask your own line manager, come to the Thursday drop-in session, or write to the project mailbox. Best wishes, Olivia
